Acupuncture Relieves Fatigue in Cancer Patients

Fatigue is one of the most common side effects experienced by cancer patients who have been treated with chemotherapy.

Fatigue may occur both during chemotherapy treatment and may also persist for months after treatment has been completed.

One of the most common reasons for this fatigue is anemia, the loss of  blood cells destroyed by chemotherapy drugs. Acupuncture has been shown to stimulate the production of new blood cells, speeding up the recovery from chemotherapy induced anemia.

For cancer patients who were not anemic,  a large study involving over 13,000 patients experiencing chemotherapy related fatigue showed a 31.3% improvement after receiving acupuncture treatment.

Cancer patients looking for alternative cancer treatments to relieve the side effects of chemotherapy can turn to acupuncture for relief of fatigue.
