The Real Reasons You Might Get Bladder Cancer

Dr. Nalini Chilkov Bladder Cancer

Dr. Nalini ChilkovHelping others live healthy, full lives is my passion!

I have been traveling around the country speaking at many cancer conferences.

As I was walking back to my hotel room at a recent conference, a woman stopped me to say, “Dr. Chilkov, I traveled all the way from Hong Kong to California just to hear you talk and to meet you.”

I was both touched and, frankly, very surprised.

It has been my vision and my mission to touch as many people as possible, to get the word out, to empower people to have the knowledge and the tools to create a body where cancer cannot thrive.

Sitting in front of my computer writing, I actually have no real perspective whatsoever on how many people I touch or how far my reach extends.

I am deeply moved and heartened to know that my message and my resources are really traveling all over the world.

Nothing could be more meaningful to me.

Risk factors for Bladder Cancer include:

  • Smoking.
  • Being over 40.
  • Being white.
  • Being a man.  Men are more likely to develop bladder cancer than women.
  • Exposure to certain chemicals.  Chemicals linked to bladder cancer risk include arsenic and chemicals used in the manufacturing of dyes, rubber, leather, textiles and paint products.
  • Previous cancer treatment. The drug Cytoxan and radiation treatments to the pelvis and lower abdomen can increase risk.
  • Using the diabetes medication pioglitazone (Actos).
  • Chronic or repeat urinary infections or inflammations.
  • History of squamous cell carcinoma.
  • History of schistosomiasis parasite infection.
  • Personal or family history of bladder cancer.

One of the most powerful things you can do to avoid bladder cancer is to avoid toxic chemicals and reduce the toxic load in your body.

When you smoke or if you are exposed to certain chemicals and drugs as noted above, the kidneys filter toxins from your blood and your urine may then contain toxic residues that damage the cells lining your bladder.  This may lead to bladder cancer.

What can you do to reduce body burden of toxic and cancer causing chemicals and promote healty detoxification?

Support your body’s own ability to remove harmful chemicals with a Detoxification Program every season, or at the very least every spring and fall (Hint: It is springtime!).

Try a 14 Day Detox.

On a daily basis, eat vegetables rich in sulphoraphanes which support normal detoxification in the liver. These vegetables are from the cabbage family and include kale, broccoli, broccoli sprouts, cabbage, brussel sprouts, bok choy, nappa cabbage and cauliflower.  These plant chemicals actually stop the development, growth and spread of cancer at every phase of cancer.

If you don’t think you can include these foods in your diet on a regular basis take a daily supplement rich in sulphoraphanes such as Broccoprotect.
